A person marking an exam

We understand that maintaining the quality, integrity and standards of your qualification is your greatest concern. To ensure British Council and awarding body standards are met throughout our network, we impose a rigorous Quality and Compliance Assessment (QCA) process on all our examination centres. The QCA follows a quarterly cycle. It is undertaken by experienced assessors from the British Council’s Global Compliance Team who are independent from our exam centres. Through the QCA process we ensure:

  • the highest examination administrations standards are adhered to
  • that confidential material is kept secure at all times
  • our storage infrastructure is robust
  • only appropriately authorised colleagues have access to confidential materials
  • that venues meet UK standards for comfort, safety and accessibility
  • the highest standards of invigilation
  • stringent requirements for training, performance monitoring and professionalism of all test day personnel
