Supporting young artists to become social leaders

The Arts and Active Citizens programme aims to contribute to the promotion of peace and development in the Horn of Africa (HoA), through creative engagement with young people across Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia.

The programme supports a collective of engaged and ambitious young artists to become social leaders and explore models to support their practice as tools for development in their communities. It uses Active Citizens methodology and creative inputs to build the capacity of young people as artist facilitators, so they are able to engage and empower their communities through their own artistic practice, while strengthening their confidence as artists in their own right.

Through the support of UK arts practitioners, the programme engages and amplifies local voices and builds transferable skills that contribute to sustainable livelihoods.
