City of Culture programme

British Council is an International Project Partner for Leeds Year of Culture 2023, working with Leeds Culture Trust to support international connections across arts and culture.

As the international partner for Coventry City of Culture 2021 our projects created connections between Coventry residents and people and places worldwide.

In 2017, Hull was the UK’s City of Culture. As an international partner for the festival, the British Council created new connections and ideas through arts, culture and education in Hull. A Hall for Hull The British Council supported the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and Hull 2017 to commission A Hall For Hull in the heart of Hull City Centre.
