Sheffield has a long history and rich tradition of producing some of the best theatre in the UK.

Home to the Sheffield Theatres complex, acclaimed experimental theatre company Forced Entertainment, progressive collective Third Angel, and leading Black British theatre company Eclipse to name a few, theatre and performance artists from Sheffield have been making waves in the national and international theatre landscape for decades.

Sheffield Theatres

One of the UK’s leading theatres, Sheffield Theatres is home to the world-famous Crucible, the Lyceum, and a multi-format Studio space. Taking pride in creating bold, passionate and enriching work across its three stages, the company produces a diverse programme of work, spanning classical revivals, new work, large-scale musicals and innovative and immersive theatre experiences.

In July, Robert Hastie joins Sheffield Theatres as their new Artistic Director. In the short film below, the out-going Artistic Director Daniel Evans looks back on his time at Sheffield Theatres and celebrates the successes of the last seven years.

You can also watch a rehearsal room film from Sheffield Theatres’ recent musical production Flowers For Mrs Harris, and a scene from their forthcoming world premiere of Contractions by award-winning playwright Mike Bartlett.
