Our work in Sub–Saharan Africa is currently delivered in Uganda, Nigeria, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, while there is an Active Citizens Social Enterprise focus in Senegal and Ghana. In the past, the programme was delivered in South Africa, Kenya and Rwanda.
Our work in Sub–Saharan Africa focusses on Governance, Youth, Accountability and Citizen Engagement.
In Uganda, Active Citizens activity has built on the EU / British Council / UYONET ‘Ours by Right ‘programme and includes a Social Enterprise initiative.
Active Citizens work in Nigeria includes working with universities to deliver the programme; improving cross-cultural and inter-religious engagement as well as fostering greater national civic engagement.
HoLLA (Horn of Africa Leadership and Learning for Action) is an EU co-funded project - using the Active Citizens methodology, the project’s overall objective is to contribute to the promotion of peace and development involving youth across Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
