Our work in the Middle East and North Africa is currently delivered in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya while it was previously delivered in Algeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Yemen and Iraq.

We partner with civil society organisations mainly but also government ministries, schools and universities to deliver the programme.

The overarching aim is to deepen trust and understanding within and between communities. We predominantly work with marginalized communities including Women, refugees and hosting communities and people with disability.

Active Citizens work includes working with Deaf Communities to integrate them as active community members in their societies. We work on building Women’s capacity and support their active involvement in public life including political processes using the Active Citizens methodology.

In Jordan, the programme has been using an arts-based approach to deliver the Active Citizens Learning Journey. This has improved the capacity of Active Citizens to be creative and think differently about themselves, others, an issue or their community.
