We worked in partnership with openDemocracy to present an online global debate with the overarching theme of 'cities and climate change' to support the ZeroCarbonCity campaign.
openDemocracy.net is an online global magazine of politics and culture, dedicated to opening up a democratic space for discussion - free thinking for the world. openDemocracy publish clarifying debates to their website to help stimulate your mind, challenge your perceptions and then invite and encourage you to take part - either in the forums or by submitting your own material to the editors.
The main debate kicked off on 20 April and ran until 10 June, ahead of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland from 6- 8 July. It focused on the politics of climate change: how science is presented and understood, international governance, action and equity , technology and solutions for people of all nations.
It was supported by over 25 articles written by scientists, technologists, city planners, policy makers and other public figures and gave opportunities to engage in a discussion with key actors from science and public life plus hearing from many perspectives from around the globe.
