Email Writing

Effective Email Writing is a 20 hour course designed to help business people improve their email writing skills. The course covers the following areas:

  • The nature of email
  • Transaction types
  • Set-phrases for the most common transaction types
  • Requesting action and information emails
  • Making and confirming arrangements
  • Responding and initiating

Participants on the course see lots of email examples and are given language banks which they can use in the workplace. The course is delivered making full use of the BC technological facilities, including laptops and IWBs.

By the end of the course you will be able to write emails more accurately and more quickly. At the same time you will be able to read and take action on emails you receive more efficiently.

Formal Business Writing

Professional Writing is a course designed to help business people develop their written communication skills. The course covers the following areas:

  • Principles of effective business writing
  • The writing process
  • Error-correction techniques
  • Paragraph structure
  • Organising text
  • Audience and tone
  • Writing with purpose
  • Writing concisely
  • Developing an effective style

Participants will focus on a range of text types, including e-mails, letters, reports and press releases. They will also have the opportunity to write and receive feedback on at least 6 pieces of work. By the end of the course, they will have improved their ability to write in a clear, concise and accurate business style.
