2 and 3 March 2012 under support of the British Council the British theatre Protein Dance is presenting its performance LOL (Lots of Love) as part of the theatre festival “Golden Mask”.
The performance is also a part of out-of-competition programme “Mask Plus” and “Edinburgh Fringe in Moscow. Continuation” project that was first realised by the British Council and the “Golden Mask” three years ago and presents performances from Edinburgh Showcase 2011 in Moscow.

PROTEIN DANCE was founded in 1997 by Italian born Luca Silvestrini, and Bettina Strickler from Switzerland who attended the Laban conservatoire for dance in London together as students. Beginning with their bi-lingual duet Duelin in 1998, they created a series of high energy, accessible professional stage works, each one relishing a different aspect of contemporary life: confessional television, psychoanalysis, booze culture and social Darwinism. Continuing as sole Artistic Director after Bettina’s departure from the company in 2005, Luca tackled consumerism (Big Sale, 2005) and obsession with body image (B for Body, 2006) which won Luca Silvestrini the Audience Vote in The Place Prize choreographic competition in 2006. Protein’s has toured throughout the United Kingdom and internationally being awarded a number of prestigious prizes.

LOL (Lots Of Love) Luca Silvestrini's critically acclaimed show balances the promises of an online life and the complexity of real relationships to put love, wanting and connectedness centre-stage. Against a video wall of dozens of screen-gazing individuals, Protein's six dancers stylishly nail the language of life online, talking and dancing at speed and making straight-to-the-audience confessionals. With video animation by Rachel Davies and original music by Andy Pink, these ingredients conjure a razor-sharp commentary on our Facebook society, and an affecting rendering of human need.
