Developing Teacher Trainers
Focus on Teacher Training Skills and British Council courses

Our congratulations to

who are participating in the summer school from Russia.

We would like to express our gratitude to those who applied for the summer school. The application process is now CLOSED and we no longer accept applications.

When is it?
Sunday 17th - Tuesday 26th July

Where is it?
Uludag - a mountain town near Bursa in Turkey - there won’t be skiing in the winter!

What is it?
A trainer training intensive summer school - 36 hours input - on developing core training skills (setting up workshops; engaging trainees, planning and delivering sessions, monitoring and evaluating progress, observation and feedback).

It will also include familiarisation with the delivery techniques necessary for British Council global product teacher training courses in classroom language, methodology etc which participants can then cascade in their own context.

The participants will be expected to cascade training in their home countries from September 2011 and maintain a regional network with other trainers.

Who’s it for?
The ideal applicant:

  • is fairly new to the profession e.g. 5-10 years teaching experience
  • has a formal or informal teacher training role in their current workplace
  • aspires to working in more of a teacher training capacity in the future
  • has no previous summer school/international training experience
  • is capable of, and committed to, developing and sustaining an international network of teacher training colleagues.

Successful participants will have to deliver training on their return to their working context and there should be opportunity for British Council trainers to observe them deliver teacher training. In their application they need to outline how this could happen.

How does an applicant get onto the summer school programme?
There will be about 40 participants (2 groups) from a wide range of countries potentially including Turkey, Russia, Israel, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Serbia, Albania, BiH, Macedonia, Armenia, Georgia, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Uzbekistan.
