The Chevening Scholarship Programme is a worldwide scholarship scheme funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) with UK universities and administered by us. Chevening Scholarships are prestigious awards offered in over 150 countries to enable talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with UK and gain skills to benefit their countries.
About 7 Chevening scholarships, half under our Joint Chevening programmes, are awarded to Palestinians each year to pursue mainly Masters courses at UK universities. The Joint Chevening Scholarships are co-funded by the LSE, and University of Edinburgh (Birzeit Gratduates only), University of Edinburgh (Palestinian Students residents in Gaza only)

We will consider Chevening applications for study in most areas, but priority will be given as follows:
Political Science and International Relations, Governance, Media; Business, Economics and Finance, Management, Environmental Studies, Arts, Media and Communication, Law, Conflict Resolution, Diplomatic Training, Media Studies, Banking, Development Studies, Journalism, Public Administration, Computer and Information Technology, and Engineering

Display intellectual ability and leadership potential |

Have an adequate standard of English i.e. 6.5 marking or over in IELTS( but exceptionally pre-sessional English language training might be provided subject to the merits each case) |

Already hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK second-class Honour degree |

Be a national and resident of the Palestinian Territories at the time of applying for the award and intend to return to there at the end of the period of study |

Candidates invited to interview must provide proof of Residency and ID in the Palestinian Territories |

Not already have received or currently receiving financial benefit from a previous HMG funded scholarship. |
Employees, employees' relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than 5 years before) of FCO (including FCO posts), the British Council, will not be eligible to apply for these awards.
