Event: New Approaches to Learning Pronunciation Date: 9-10 May 2012 Location: Red Crescent/ Ramallah
As part of our Engaging Teachers project and in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and UNRWA, we will host Adrian Underhill, creator of the Sound Foundation Phonemic Chart, in a presentation on learning pronunciation on 9 May 2012 at the Red Crescent in Ramallah. Around 150 teachers and supervisors will attend the presentation on new approaches to learning pronunciation and how to implement this in the classroom. Adrian Underhill will also be conducting a closed workshop for supervisors on the following day and will hold a video conference with a group from Gaza to discuss the same topic.

Event: Lectures on the Role of Culture in English Language Education Date: 3 May & 5 May 2012 Location: Hebron and Nablus
Are you an English teacher or student? Are you in Nablus or Hebron and interested in attending a lecture about the role of culture in English language education? If yes, then make sure to attend the lectures by Adrian Holliday at Hebron University on 3 May 2012, An-Najah University on 5 May 2012 and a video conference on 7 May 2012 with Al-Quds Open University in Al-Bireh and Gaza. These events form part of our English Interface project aimed at engaging Palestinian students, teachers and supervisors in lectures about different themes and challenges in their field.

Event: Points of Departure: Residents Selected Date: 2012 Location: UK/ Palestine
In partnership with Delfina Foundation in the UK and ArtSchool Palestine, eight British and Palestinian visual artists and curators have been selected to take part in art residencies in the UK and Palestine this summer-autumn that will culminate in a touring exhibition next year. Congratulations to curator Rebecca Heald and artists Olivia Plender, Jeremy Hutchinson and Nathan Witt from the UK and curator Mirna Bamieh and artists Jumana Abboud, Bisan Abu Eisheh and Bashar Hroub from Palestine.

Event: Music Bursary Winners- Choir of London Date: Summer 2012 Location: UK
In partnership with the Choir of London, four young musicians from Palestine will travel to the UK this summer to attend music courses with young British musicians and follow a period of intense study in London. The winners are: Sasha Khoury (16 years from Ramallah); Sama Tarazi (15 years from Beit Hanina); Naji Al.Ali (14 years from Jenin); and Marina Eichberg (18 years from Beit Jala). Find out more!

Event: Literary Translation Conference Date: 29 April - 1 May 2012 Location: Qatar
Basima Takrouri will attend the Literary Translation Conference organised by the British Council in Qatar in partnership with Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing, Translation and Interpreting Institute, Qatar. The conference will address the theme of ‘Translation in and of the World’ and will offer workshop strands on Literary Translation, Media Translation, Business/Commercial Translation and Audiovisual Translation.
