College Partnerships

The British Council has facilitated the development of 5 partnerships between the UK and Pakistani Technical and Vocational colleges and institutes. The partnerships were spread across Pakistan and were from key sectors like Engineering, Hospitality and Tourism, Textile and Fashion Designing and Constructions. All these sectors are part of the 19 key sectors for Pakistan identified by the National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (NAVTEC).

On 28 March 2011, a grand College Partnership Dissemination Event was held in Islamabad that marked the successful completion of these partnerships.

The dissemination event was attended by more than 150 key stakeholders including college representatives and principals from both UK and Pakistan. The dignitaries included Chairmen of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab, Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Executive Director NAVTEC, Senior Policy Advisor, Ministry of Education, Chairman and Managing Director Punjab Vocational Training Council and the British High Commissioner of Pakistan.

Representatives from the partner colleges gave presentations of their partnership goals, challenges, outcomes and future plans. An exhibition area was also setup at the event where both UK and Pakistani colleges showcased their work to share their achievements and experiences with the visiting dignitaries and other guests.

These college partnerships have now concluded, achieving the targets set in their joint proposals in 2008. The major area is the development of curriculum for the above key sectors. Below are the achievements made by these partnerships over the course of 3 years.
