Registration details and exam dates

To register, you need to download the IELTS application form. Print this off and complete in blue or black ink. You then need to bring this to our centre in Manama, with two passport photographs, and a passport or Government-issued ID.

When can you take the test?
You can take an IELTS test at our centre in Manama. All tests begin at 0900. The listening, reading and writing tests are taken on the dates below The speaking test may be on the same day or on another day, usually a Thursday.

Please note that the registration deadline for the IELTS exam is two weeks before the test date.

How much will the test cost?
The test fee is BD70. Candidates living outside Bahrain pay an extra BD10 to cover additional administrative costs and sending the test results by courier.

When will I get my results?
Results are available for collection from British Council Reception 13 days after the test date. (Saturday test results available on Thursday, Thursday test results available on Wednesday) Results cannot be given out over the telephone, by fax or e-mail

Prepare for the test
We can help you prepare for your test with an IELTS study pack, containing a CD-ROM, handbook, exam information, and practice papers. The pack costs BD10. You can also join one of our preparation courses to help you achieve the best results (visit our English courses page for dates and details).

Changing your test date
You can request a change to your test date. However, you cannot make this request less than five weeks before the test; if you do, you will need to pay the registration fee again.

Can I cancel my test?
Yes you can. However, all cancellations must be made at least five weeks before the test date. If you cancel your registration less than five weeks before the test, you will not receive a refund.

Can I retake the test?
Yes, you can. Just complete an application form.
