Key English Test
KET is the first level of Cambridge ESOL exams and recognises the ability to cope with everyday written and spoken communications at a basic level. It is designed for learners who have basic English skills, of the kind needed when travelling in English speaking countries.
Preliminary English Test
A pass at PET level indicates that the student has developed the skills to cope in largely predictable social and work situations in an English speaking environment. Apart from four main language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking - PET tests knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and assesses learners' ability to communicate in English in real situations.
First Certificate in English Tests
Learners at this level can expect to be able to work or study in an English speaking environment and cope easily as tourists in an English speaking country. This certificate is widely accepted for commercial and preliminary academic purposes in the UK and throughout the world.
Certificate in Advanced English
At this level learners can be expected to cope confidently in most situations that would arise in an English speaking country - socially, professionally and in higher education. CAE is accepted by almost all universities and colleges in Britain and many others throughout the world including employers.
Certificate of Proficiency in English
At this stage, learners are approaching a standard of English similar to that of an educated native speaker. CPE is accepted by almost all universities and colleges in Britain and many others throughout the world, as proof of a level of English suitable for entry to courses of higher education or postgraduate study. Many employers also recognise CPE.
Business English Certificates
BEC is available at three levels: BEC Preliminary, BEC Vantage and BEC Higher and provides qualifications for learners who wish to use English for the purpose of international business. BEC assesses all four language skills - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing - in a business context. Each level of the test is divided into three parts: Reading and Writing (70 - 100 minutes), Listening (40 minutes) and Speaking (10 - 14 minutes). For BEC Preliminary, certificates are issued to successful candidates with the 'Pass' and 'Pass with Merit' grades. For BEC Vantage and BEC Higher, certificates are issued to successful candidates with the A, B and C grades.
Teaching Knowledge Test
TKT is a new test about teaching English to speakers of other languages. It aims to increase teachers' confidence and enhance job prospects by focusing on the core teaching knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world. TKT gives teachers a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom. It is ideal for all teachers, whatever your background and teaching experience, and is also suitable for people who would like to teach English but do not yet have a teaching position.
Young learner english tests
Young Learners English Tests are specifically designed for children aged between seven and twelve. They are based on activities and language uses familiar to children throughout the world. Tests are available at three levels - Starters, Movers and Flyers and everyone who completes the test receives an award.
