All scores are given on a nine band scale from non-user to expert user with "a fully operational command of the language". Different institutions have their own entrance requirements and may require minimum scores in particular modules. In general, universities request an Overall Band Score of 6.0 or 6.5 for entrance to academic courses. You are advised to check the score required with the particular institution to which you are applying.
The British Council offers you access to your IELTS Results online on the 13th day after the test date. The online result is provisional and should not be used as an official confirmation of your achievement. British Council will not accept any responsibility in the event that your results fail to display, whether due to a technical fault or administrative procedure. You will also receive an email notification of their availability for collection at the Security post of the British High Commission on the same day. These results are valid for two years.
Page 3 of the Application Form allows you to request additional Test Report Forms to be sent to the address of your choice at an additional cost. Please discuss the procedure for this when registering for the exam.
Candidates can request a remark at the cost of £60.00 (payable to British Council) within four weeks of issue of the Test Report Form.
