IELTS dates and fees
2012


The IELTS test is offered up to twice per month in Jamaica by the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy, University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. The closing date for application is generally one week before the test date.  Please note that spaces may be filled in before application deadlines and late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Spaces for tests are limited and applicants will be registered on a first -come, first - served basis.  

Venue details for each exam and candidate is issued upon/after registration.  Please include an email contact as our communications with you will be primarily through email.  Applicants will require an email address in order to apply online.

The Listening, Reading, Writing & Speaking tests are all taken on the same day unless otherwise advised by the IELTS Administrator.

HOW TO APPLY

Persons applying for IELTS are asked to visit the website http://www.mona.uwi.edu/dllp/) for information on how to register.  

IELTS applications may be made online at www.britishcouncil.org/takeielts.

Completed applications are also accepted at our offices between 9:30am and 1:00pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 9:30am – 3:30pm on Fridays, ONLY, for candidates visiting the office in person; contact information for the Department is listed below. These opening hours are strictly enforced. We also accept applications via courier from candidates unable to visit the office in person.  

The cost of the test is £147.00 (applicants outside of Jamaica) or JA$ 20, 500.00 (applicants within Jamaica]. Please call the Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy, UWI Mona for payment options; contact information for the Department is listed below.


TEST RESULTS

The IELTS results will be available on the 13th day after the test date (includes Saturdays & Sundays).  Candidates may request for results to be mailed or couried (DHL or TARA couriers) to their address.  Alternatively, candidates may collect results in person from the IELTS Test Centre, Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy; UWI Mona Campus, Kingston 7.

REFUNDS CANCELLATIONS & TRANSFERS

All notices or requests for Refund, or Cancellation MUST be received 5 weeks prior to the date of the exam, failing which your request will be denied.   A request for Transfer of Test Dates MUST be received at least 10 days prior to the test date for evaluation.  All requests will attract a 25% administrative fee (Please see policies in the ‘Information for Candidates’ booklet under FAQs).

ENQUIRY ON RESULTS

Candidates may apply for a re-mark (Enquiry on Results (EOR)) at the centre where they took the test.  This MUST be done within 6 weeks of the test date.  The candidate can choose which tests are re-marked.  The EOR fee is £63.00 or JA$8,800; this may be refunded only if the score on any test is increased. An EOR can take up to 8 weeks to complete. EORs also attract a non-refundable courier fee of JA$3,800.00.

HOW TO PREPARE

To assist with your preparation for the IELTS Test, IELTS Official Practice Materials, including an audio CD or DVD, are available from our office during the times mentioned above.  The cost is £47.00 or JA$ 6,500.00.
