TEFL-I qualifications must:
- contain at least six hours supervised teaching practice where a qualified assessor observed you teaching real TEFL students and gave feedback on your performance;
- contain at least 100 hours of TEFL input;
- be externally validated by a reputable examination body (e.g. a university or a recognised examinations board).
TEFL-I qualifications are commonly:
At certificate level.
Four weeks of full-time face-to-face training, or three months part-time face-to-face training, consisting of more than 100 hours of input including methodology, language systems and skills, professional development, written assignments and peer observation.
TEFL-Q qualifications are a higher level qualification and must:
- contain at least six hours supervised teaching practice in which a qualified assessor observed you teaching real TEFL students and gave feedback on your performance;
- contain at least 100 hours of TEFL input;
- be externally validated by a reputable examination body (e.g. a university or a recognised examinations board).
TEFL-Q qualifications are commonly:
At a minimum of a diploma level, but can also include Masters, B. Ed. or PGCE qualifications which have teaching practice.
Two months of full-time face-to-face training, or nine months of part-time blended learning, consisting of more than 100 hours of input including methodology, language systems and skills, professional development, written assignments and peer observation.
Young Learner / TEYL qualifications are:
At a minimum of certificate level, and can include young learner focussed graduate or post-graduate courses.
