British Council Georgia

International Young Performing Arts Entrepreneur (IYPAE) award 2009

The IYPAE competition has now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered. The winners will be announced on 1 June.

Zviad Nazghaidze from Kakha Bakuradze's Movement Theatre has become the Georgian finalist of the International Young Perfoming Arts Entrepreneur 2009 Award.  Zviad has won a 12 day all-paid-for trip to the UK to participate in the final judging procedure. Good Luck, Zviad!

We are looking for a young performing arts entrepreneur to represent Georgia in the International Young Performing Arts Entrepreneur (IYPAE) award 2009.

The selected Georgian finalist will travel to the UK for an all-expenses-paid 10-12 day visit, to network with the most successful performing arts leaders and innovators and attend the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

During the tour, the Georgian national winner will compete with the national winners from seven eight countries for the title of the overall international winner of the award.  All finalists make a presentation to an experienced UK industry jury about their work and their understanding of and vision for the performing arts sector in their country, and are then interviewed by the UK jury.  The winner is selected on this basis

Award Prize

In addition to the honour of the award title, the prize for the overall international winner of IYPAE award is:

  • A physical award – a special commission bowl by acclaimed glass designers, Gillies Jones.
  • A financial prize of £ 5000 to be spent on a project in collaboration with the British Council that builds the relationship between the winner’s country and the UK.

The IYPAE award is unique in rewarding entrepreneurial ability. We recognise that a finalist may be active in the creative process, but this should be secondary to their focus as an entrepreneur in the promotion of the performing arts in their country. Artistic talent will not be factored into the judging procedure – finalists will be judged solely on the merit of their entrepreneurial abilities in the industry.
