Martin Rose
Martin Rose has been Director since 2006. He joined the British Council in 1988 after careers in publishing and banking in Africa and the Middle East. He has been posted in Baghdad, Rome and Brussels as well as London. In 1993 he established the Pontignano Conference and in 2002, Counterpoint, the British Council's in-house think-tank. He is also currently the Director of Our Shared Europe, the Council's large-scale project addressing perceptions of, and by, European Muslims. His academic background is in history and Middle Eastern Studies; and he has published and spoken widely on Cultural Relations.
Lily Tam
Lily joined the British Council in 2000, after working with the British High Commission in Ottawa and the British Consulate General in Montreal. Her primary function with the British Council is to implement and maintain Management and Financial Systems. She also manages all resources in the office and co-ordinates our work in Equal Opportunity and Diversity and Staff Learning and Development.
Margret Brady Nankivell
Margret is responsible for a number of programmes in Canada at the British Council especially the International Climate Champions project and related programmes. She handles the “Darwin Now” project which celebrates British naturalist Charles Darwin’s 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his Origin of the Species. She also manages media and communications for the British Council in Canada. Before joining the British Council, she was an Ottawa-based freelance science writer who has written for national and regional publications. She has an under-graduate degree in English and History at Ottawa’s Carleton University, a Masters in History from the University of Toronto, and several national writing awards.
Jocelyne Sauvé
Jocelyne Sauvé provides support to all personnel of the British Council. She studied Administration and Finance in Montréal. Before joining the British Council, she worked in Germany, the Netherlands, Syria and Egypt.
Tripti Saha
Tripti Saha joined the British Council in 2008. She manages the Council's websites and new media as well as provides support on climate change programmes and communications. She is also editor of British Council Canada's newsletter. She has a Bachelor degree in Environmental Science and is currently completing her Masters in Geography.
Sarah Dawbarn
Sarah has been Director Montréal since 1989. She has degrees in Art History and Translation and a professional background in museum work and teaching. She coordinates the British Council’s work in Québec and is responsible for the British Council's cultural programmes across Canada.
Liane Fraser
Liane has worked in the Montréal office since 2005. She provides support to Director Montréal and to the Language Assistants’ programme in Québec. She also handles educational enquiries for British Council Canada.
