Cambridge ESOL
Develop your English skills whatever your level

If you want to develop your English skills, we can help you, whatever your level, and whatever your reason. Whether you want to improve your job prospects, gain entry to a UK university, make travelling easier or help your children learn English, we have a Cambridge exam to suit you.  The British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently become an Examination Centre for Cambridge English Language Examinations.  You can register for these exams now by filling in this form. Please note that the British Council reserves the right to decide whether to organise ESOL exams sessions or not for certain levels and/or at certain location due to the restrictions/requirements with regard to the minimum number of candidates registered for the relevant session.

Once you have obtained a Cambridge ESOL exam (apart from IELTS), this is valid for the rest of your life.

General English

You can take general Cambridge English exams with us at one of five levels; each level will test your English skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. We can also help you apply and prepare for the exam.  Find out more.

Key English Test - KET Cambridge level 1
Preliminary English Test - PET Cambridge level 2
First Certificate in English - FCE Cambridge level 3
Certificate in Advanced English - CAE Cambridge level 4
Certificate of Proficiency in English - CPE Cambridge level 5

Business English

If you are learning English for international business communication, the Business English Certificate (BEC) suite of examinations is for you. BEC exams focus on the application of language in dealing with real world business situations. There are three BEC levels. Each level concentrates on reading, writing, listening and speaking. You can register and take BEC exam in one of our offices.  The Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) is non-certificated, and offers employers a quick, reliable and flexible method of assessing employees' language skills. Find out more.

Young Learners tests (YLE)

Encourage your children to take one of the three available tests for young learners: Starters, Movers and Flyers. The tests aim to sample relevant and meaningful language use, measure ability accurately and fairly, present a positive impression of international tests.

DISCLAIMER: Examinations Services is committed to providing a quality service taking all reasonable measure to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations or results being disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible. Please note that the British Council reserves right to decide whether to organise ESOL exams sessions or not for certain levels and/or at certain centres due to the restrictions regarding the minimum number of candidates registered. In case there is an insufficient number of a candidate the British Council reserves the right to cancel the exam (in which case you may be reimbursed for the full cost of the exam) or your entry may be transferred to an alternative location.

Candidate results - now online

Candidates taking Main Suite (KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE) or BEC (Preliminary, Vantage and Higher) exams can now access their results as soon as they are released, using a secure web-based service.

With results available from midnight on the release date, candidates can immediately find out how they have done, wherever they are in the world. This means that candidates studying away from home, on holiday, or far from their exam centre no longer have to wait for results posted from the centre.

Easy to use

Written in simple English, with clear icons and graphics, the new website is easy to navigate. A single click brings candidates to their secure personal results area. A further click gives them their Statement of Results with their Graphical Profile - an image demonstrating their performance in each paper. And if candidates lose their printed Statement of Results, they can simply return to the secure area of the website and print off another copy.

Candidates can rest assured that the website is highly secure, with levels of protection designed to prevent unauthorised access. It also includes useful information on general and business English exams, as well as timely reminders, where applicable, to enter for the next exam. The service is designed to be fast, friendly and safe.

Benefits to centres

In a recent survey, around 60% of centres believed online results would help to increase the number of candidates at their centre. Centres can also benefit from the fact that printed Statements of Results no longer have to be mailed to all test takers where candidates have online access. This reduces the heavy administrative burden of maintaining databases with updated address information.

Well received

As reported in the last issue of Cambridge First, the online results facility was trialled by 80,000 candidates worldwide; 90% of them accessed Main Suite and BEC results through the service. The extensive trial tested the robustness of the website which was able to handle 15,000 users logging on within a day of the results being made available online.

Centres have already been given guidelines on using the service, on updating personal details and on encouraging their supplier schools and test takers to use the facility.

The service will be available for all centres from March this year.
