Ilulissat harbour with the fishing and sealing boats are still in the water. Large areas of the fjord next to Ilulissat were previously covered by the Jakobshavan glacier 700 meters (2,300 feet) thick but rising temperatures mean the glacier has retreated 10 KM (6 miles) between 2001 and 2003 leaving only scattered icebergs and sea ice.
