The International Educational Programme (IEP) is a programme funded by the Welsh Government and implemented by the British Council. This programme covers primary, further education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) in a formal and non-formal capacity to deliver a wide range of international educational opportunities for the benefit of professionals and young people in Wales.
- To provide the knowledge and skills necessary to actively contribute in a global community through the International Dimension in Education (IDE) and Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship (ESDGC)
- To increase awareness, attitudes and response to global learning
- To increase sustained collaboration between Wales and other countries, through young people and practitioners, leading to improved educational outcomes and attainment levels and productive partnerships.
- To increase the employability of young people in Wales through international exchanges and language development.
- To focus on key Welsh Government education policy priorities
The role of the Committee is to advise British Council Wales in its work on the IEP through sharing its expertise and intelligence of the education sector. The Committee brings opportunities to increase the number and types of schools participating in IEP activities through their own established education networks, engages in joint activities within Welsh schools and the FE sector to further the aims of the IEP and assists in the promotion of IEP opportunities and achievements.
