eTwinning Weeks Go Live …

eTwinning Weeks, the Europe-wide eTwinning ‘back to school’ campaign is here! The month long series of events, competitions and initiatives has been hugely successful over the past couple of years, engaging eTwinners old and new in new projects and partnerships at the start of the school year.

From the 01st-31st October, the British Council eTwinning Team will be running a weekly prize draw offering all newly projects registered the chance to webcams and memory sticks.

Over the next four weeks, be sure to visit the eTwinning UK blog at the following URL http://etwinninguk.typepad.com for all the latest news and a special series of videos, podcasts and online interviews, highlighting how eTwinning is actively supporting education initiatives across the UK. The eTwinning Team will also be welcoming a new series of teacher lead Blog contributions, following the success of their newly registered eTwinning projects over the course of the academic year.

Enthusiasm for eTwinning in Wales has grown significantly over the past twelve months with more and more schools getting involved. In 2009 so far over 50 new projects have been started by Welsh schools with partners from Poland, France, Spain, Finland, Turkey, Estonia, Germany, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and Slovenia on wide range of topics. These projects have helped the schools involved deliver aspects of ESDGC, Modern Foreign Language learning, PSHE, ICT and many other areas of the curriculum. The quality of these projects is of an exceptional standard highlighted by Barker’s Lane Community Primary School in Wrexham being shortlisted for the Primary School Award at the eTwinning Awards in June 2009 for their ‘Let’s be Buddies’ project with Fram School in Slovenia.
