Poet gives school children in Cardiff a voice

Students at four high schools in Cardiff welcomed the Liverpool-based performance poet, Levi Tafari, during late November.  Willows High, Cardiff High, Fitzalan High and Cathays High are all linked with partner schools in Belgium and the Netherlands as part of the British Council INDIE project.  The poet’s visit to Wales received support from Academi, the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency.

Purpose of the Visit
Levi’s visit was to promote communicative skills and creativity amongst students.

Levi has visited all of the countries involved in the INDIE project and his visit to Cardiff was the final stop on his tour.  Levi has worked with all the INDIE schools and so the workshops add to a body of joint work between the Cardiff Schools and their partners in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Making a Music Video
The visit is timely as five students from Willows recently recorded a rap and shot a music video to enter into a competition called INDIE goes mobile- now available to see on YouTube.
