LIPD Case Study
In 2007 Alison Sussex from Coleg Gwent visited a series of educational institutions in the Gambia.

The original purpose of the visit was:

  • To develop international links for positive collaboration and development.
  • To widen the resource base of information for students at Coleg Gwent and in the Gambia
  • To cascade experiences across the Coleg Gwent through INSET events

Alison felt that this visit had extensive benefits beyond her own personal development, as both her students and Coleg Gwent have benefited. These included

  • Strengthening links between several schools and Coleg Gwent.
  • Establishing communication with other countries through iEARN, which improved on-line communication between students.
  • Developing a number of links with Gambian schools and Coleg Gwent students.
  • Passing on experiences on to students, who in turn, have developed communications with Gambian students.
  • Students have benefited by attending the International iEARN Youth Summit in Cairo in July 2007.
  • Incorporating IT in teaching and learning within a developing country will re-enforce the good practices already in place in Coleg Gwent.
