Students Still at School
If you are still at school and have not yet chosen where you are going to study in the UK and want to take part in Erasmus, you should check out which institutions and courses offer an Erasmus option. All UK universities and many other UK Institutions of Higher Education/Further Education have some involvement with the Erasmus student mobility programmes. The involvement varies from institution to institution but overall every subject area is covered. Check with your chosen UK institution first before enrolling. Take a look at the Erasmus UK Course Guide which has been designed to help students find information on UK institutions and courses that offer an Erasmus experience. The guide gives an indication on which Erasmus options are available for your subject and can help you decide to which higher education institution you would like to apply. You may also find it useful to look at the list of which institutions have an Erasmus charter on the Executive Agency's website and contact these institutions directly if you have further questions.

Students and Staff Already at a Higher Education Institution
If you are already at a Higher Education Institution, your first step in applying to take part in Erasmus will be to contact your local Erasmus co-ordinator who will be able to answer all your questions. They should also be able to put you in touch with past Erasmus students and staff who have participated.

Institutions
For a UK higher education institution to participate in Erasmus it must first have an Erasmus University Charter (EUC). Institutions must apply on-line to the EUC via the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency: EUC applications have to be approved by the Commission. The call for applications is made on an annual basis, usually in June. To apply for Erasmus funding under the Lifelong Learning Programme you should refer to the information on our main website.
