9 hand-picked Welsh bands and DJs are to have their music broadcast to the world as British Council Wales teams up with Selector Radio and Sŵn Festival this October.
Sŵn Festival, an annual music festival, curated by DJ Huw Stephens and Cardiff promoter John Rostron, a highlight of Cardiff’s musical calendar, is teaming up with British Council’s Selector Radio station to showcase the best of up-and-coming Welsh musicians to an international audience. Sŵn has been the springboard for a host of now highly acclaimed musicians, and this October, hopes to turn its focus to Wales’ most highly tipped bands.
On 19th of October, British Council Wales and Selector Radio will host a stage of new and emerging bands, at O’Neills, 85-87 St Mary Street, Cardiff, CF10 1DW. The 9 Welsh bands and DJs come from diverse musical backgrounds including folk, electronic, rock, punk, indie and hip hop, reflecting the broad talent in Wales. Metabeats, who originates from Barry and has been nominated for the Welsh Music Prize 2013 for his album Caviar Crackle, will be closing the stage with a late night DJ set.
The full list of artists performing: Rhodri Brooks, Peasant’s King, R Seiliog, Chain Of Flowers, Palomino Party, Kutosis, Camera, Shhh…Apes! And Metabeats. All performances will be recorded, and streamed on Selector Radio to a global audience, showcasing emerging Welsh talent to the world!
