Wales Arts International
International opportunities for Wales artists and arts organisations

We encourage international collaboration and opportunities throughout the year for Wales-based artists, through our partnership organisation, Wales Arts International.

How we build partnerships around the world
Wales Arts International (WAI) is a unique partnership between British Council Wales and the Arts Council of Wales. Through the encouragement of projects and initiatives enabling international exchange and collaboration, we aim to help build a dynamic international context to the arts in Wales.

By exporting Wales’ cultural services we help to increase the arts economy in Wales and develop cultural understanding between communities and societies.

How we can help in Wales
We provide extensive up-to-date information on:

international opportunities for artists who are based in Wales
showcases, festivals, galleries and performance arts venues in Wales that encourage international artists to contribute
artists and organisations who are based in Wales and involved with international work
news on arts events and projects together with features relating to our work.

If you are a professional Wales-based arts practitioner or arts organisation, then we may be able to help you with funding: we offer two schemes that support artists to explore international contacts and to deliver projects outside the UK.

Working with artists outside of Wales
We develop project work with artists, arts organisations, cultural institutions and government bodies worldwide, based on strategic geographical priorities. We produce publications profiling specific artform practice in Wales, often in support of showcase events, exchange programmes and residencies established in cooperation with overseas partners. We also support seminar, conference and presentation activities that draw international interest to cultural pursuits in Wales.

How to find out more
You can visit the website of Wales Arts International for more information and details on how we can help you. The site also offers you the opportunity to keep in touch with our activities through Canfas, the free Wales Arts International newsletter.
