HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE NEW INFORMATION CENTRE?

To become a member of our new centre in Hanoi you must be at least 15 years old and one of the following:

•    a full time high school pupil

•    a full time university student (or having graduated within the past 6 months)

•    employed in a full time job and aged 22 or over

•    a student of the British Council Teaching Centre

•    a member of UK Alumni Vietnam (UKAV)

AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

From September 2008, we will offer two types of 6 months membership in Hanoi, as follows.

Fees are non-refundable and subject to change without prior notice.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR HANOI INFORMATION CENTRE MEMBERSHIP ?

To join our Information Centre you need to fill in a Membership Application Form, available at our office, and submit the completed form together with the following:

•    1 recent passport photo

•   Your identity card or passport

•    The membership fee in VND (non-refundable).

From 16/09/2008, we will issue membership every Tuesday and Thursday from 0900 - 1130 and 1330 - 1630. To celebrate our move to new premises, those applying for membership in September and October will receive 2 extra months free.

WHAT IF I WANT TO JOIN THE INFORMATION CENTRE IN HO CHI MINH CITY?

The Information Centre is for Teaching Centre students, UKAV member or exam candidates only. Enrolment for paying members in Ho Chi Minh City has been suspended. However, you are welcome to visit the IC occasionally to:

· get answers to specific enquiries about the UK

· get specific pieces of information for research or a project relating to the UK

· get information about study in the UK

· find out more about the resources on offer in the information centre

· relax and browse a newspaper or magazine if you are tourists on holiday

You have to show a form of identity to the Customers Services staff (ID card, passport…) before entering the centre.

I AM A STUDENT AT BRITISH COUNCIL TEACHING CENTRE, HOW CAN I JOIN?

Students of the British Council Teaching Centres (TC) in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City who are at least 15 years old are entitled to FREE membership to the Information Centre.

On receipt of an application, TC students in Hanoi will be offered a three-month membership starting from their first class.If students would like to continue using the Information Centre after their card expires, they can apply for apaid membership. A Membership Application Form for Teaching Centre students in Hanoi is included in the Welcome Pack for each English Course or can be obtained at the Registration Desk.

TC students in Ho Chi Minh City are offered membership starting from their first class to when their last class finishes.

WHAT IF I AM A UKAV MEMBER?

UKAV members are eligible for FREE membership to the Information Centres and their UKAV membership card can be used to access our centres.

If you are Vietnamese and studied in the UK for at least three months, please visit our UKAV website  www.ukav.org and register for UKAV membership.

I AM CURRENTLY PREPARING FOR IELTS, CAN I USE THE CENTRES?

IELTS candidates registered at the British Council will be offered two weeks FREE membership to Information Centres, to access to a wide variety of IELTS Preparation Materials.
