On the 25th of November, British Council Vietnam is organising an international youth discussion focussing on “how to become a climate leader”. The evening will bring together an international panel of active climate champions and leaders from East Asia and Australia. They will join together to share experience and best practice in developing leadership for climate change. They will be joined by representatives from the Government of Vietnam, international agencies, and an active audience of over 200 young people.
The event will involve presentations from young climate champions from countries from across East Asia and Australia, including three young Vietnamese climate champions who attended the United Nations Climate Change negotiations in 2009 (COP15). There will also be a discussion from current well-known leaders on the impact of leadership in reducing harmful effects of climate change. The forum will encourage active dialogue between the audience and the panel, and aims to help people think about how they can be a better climate leader in their own professional career and local community.
The exchange is part of a week-long climate leadership workshop entitled ”Developing climate solutions - entrepreneurial approaches to addressing climate challenges and opportunities” organised by the British Council from 22 – 26 November.
We are also proud to present for the first time outside the British Council and as its public premiere, “Climate Champions Vietnam”, a short documentary directed by Paul Zetter, an award winning filmmaker, with the original soundtrack composed by Duc Tri. The documentary follows the amazing journey of three British Council Climate Champions in their battle against climate change and showcases how young people can make a difference and inspire others to take positive actions.
