How to register for IELTS

We have two British Council Test Centres in Vietnam, please contact Examinations services in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city to register.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

You can apply for IELTS by

  1. Check and select a test date
  2. Register your personal details and pay by credit card

  • In person

You should follow these 5 simple steps to register for IELTS:

  1. Contact us to check the availability of the IELTS test dates of your choice
  2. Complete an Application Form (obtained from the British Council Test Centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city or downloaded from www.ielts.org)
  3. Provide two recent passport–size photographs (taken within 6 months before the date of registration and must not wear glasses in your photographs))
  4. Provide a photocopy of your ID card/Passport
  5. Make payment in Vietnam Dong only

You must complete each step in this process in order. Your IELTS registration will not be confirmed until you have finished all 5 steps. For further information, please contact us in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh city

FACTS ABOUT IELTS REGISTRATION

   • Candidates should register for the test at least 1 week before the test date. Some tests fill up before this time, so you are advised to register as soon as you can.

   • IELTS registration is normally closed 1 week before the test date. The cut-off date for registration may change due to public holidays.

   • Candidates can register for any test dates available throughout the year.

   • IELTS Candidates may pay the registration fee by cash, credit card or bank transfer.

   • Candidates will be able to resit the exam at the next available test, regardless of the date of their previous test.

DEFERMENTS

Notification for deferring the test date must be given in writing on the form provided. Deferment can only be accepted once. Fully filled deferment form must be received by British Council staff by 1700 on Friday two weeks before a Saturday test and by 1700 on Wednesday two weeks before a Thursday test.

CANCELLATIONS

There are no cancellations. In exceptional cases such as serious illness on the test date where medical evidence (e.g. medical certificate from a state hospital with the hospital stamp) is required, cancellations can then be considered. Medical evidence must be submitted within five working days after the test date. When cancellation is accepted, you will only receive a refund of 75% of the test fee.

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS

Candidates who require special arrangements are asked to inform us at least three months before the test date. Relevant supporting materials (medical certificate and/or disability certificate) should be submitted as well. Further information please click here

If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible.
