Before taking a course at the British Council, you need to do a placement test. This helps us to find the best course for you. The placement test consists of a 30 minute written test, followed by a 5-10 minute interview with a British Council teacher.
Placement tests are held on weekly basis and by appointment. Follow the link in Step 2 to see our term schedule and registration period, and please contact our Customer Services Staff in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City to make an appointment.
Our registration team will inform you of your placement test result immediately, and will inform you of your class schedule before your course starts.
To ensure you learn as effectively as possible, class size is normally 12 to 16, depending on the course. If for any reason, places are not available on the course you have chosen, you will be given priority booking on the next course
Course fees should be paid before the course starts. Payment can be made in cash, by credit card or by cheque (payable to the ‘British Council’) in either US dollars or Vietnam dong (one currency only) at the British Council office. You can also pay by bank transfer to the British Council bank account. Our placement tests are free of charge.
Congratulations! You are registered. Enjoy your studies and see you at the first lesson!

You can cancel a course in case of a permanent move to another country or city or serious illness, accident or death and before the course starts only. Course fees are not refundable once the course has started. Refunds are only possible if we have to cancel a course. While we make every effort to maintain courses as advertised, we reserve the right to change the time, place and class teacher.
No. Course books and student notebooks are provided free of charge to students at the beginning of the course, unless they are still using the same course book as in the previous term.
