Be a guest of the Premier League at a Barclays Premier League game and win the football shirt of the team you support.
Opportunities open to all learners of English aged 12 years and over to win a trip to watch a Barclays Premier League game, under the Premier Connection Competition. The competition is a part of the Premier Skills project, an exciting partnership between the Premier League and the British Council that is delivering community sports development around the world.
Applicants will need to complete an online form and attach a short video clip or PowerPoint with audio (maximum length 3 minutes) talking about:
- Your favourite Premier League team or a Premier League team you like.
- Some things which connect the place you come from or now live in (your town/village/city) with the place where your favourite Premier League team is located. The more imaginative the connections, the better!
More information on the competition can be dowloaded from http://premierskills.britishcouncil.org/premierconnections
The competition will run until May 24th 2010.
The best 20 entries will win official football shirt from Premier League teams, one for each Premier League team. Particularly, the best entry from the 20 winners of the football shirts will receive tickets for a Barclays Premier League game, plus a travel package for two.
A panel of judges from the Premier League and the British Council will choose 20 winners of the football shirts, one for each of the 20 Premier League clubs. The panel will judge entries on:
- the imagination and creativity shown in choosing the connections
- the imagination and creativity shown in presenting the connections

Notes
Premier Skills is a collaborative project between the Premier League and the British Council, which uses football (and the interest there is in the Premier League) as a tool to help develop both community coaching and English language skills. The project was piloted in Egypt and India in late 2007 and early 2008. Thereafter Phase One projects have been delivered across Africa (in Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and Uganda), in India (New Delhi, Kolkata, Goa and Kerala) and across Asia (China, Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam). Phase Two courses will take place in Kolkata, Egypt, Kenya, China and Vietnam between January and July 2010. Phase 2 training course in Vietnam will be run from 9 to 15 May with participants coming from Vietnam, Korea and Malaysia. For more on Premier Skills visit: http://premierskills.britishcouncil.org/
In countries around the world Premier League coaches are delivering training that will help Premier Skills participants become multi-skilled community coaches and help develop their own communities.
In addition, Premier Skills provides a range of resources for learners and teachers of English.
