Ahead of UK author and creator of Mr Gum Andy Stanton’s trip to Vietnam as part of the EUNIC Literature Festival in May 2012, the British Council in co-operation with Nha Nam publishing house organised two March pre-event competitions
Entitled Drawing and Writing about Mr Gum, entrants were asked to either come up with a title and summary of a Mr Gum adventure in Vietnam, or draw a book cover.
The prize giving ceremony will take place at the launch of the Literature Festival at 18.30 Friday, 11 May 2012 at the National Library, 31 Trang Thi, Hanoi with Andy Stanton himself.
At this event, the British Council and Nha Nam publishing house will also introduce the 7th Mr Gum book: ‘Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree’ with Andy Stanton alongside a wider array of his work and other UK literature at this event.
On Saturday 12 May 2012 at the National Library, 31 Trang Thi, Hanoi. Andy Stanton will have an interactive meeting with young readers at 0900. Later on, Andy will participate in a roundtable meeting with Vietnamese writers and translators on the topics ‘Writing for Children’ at 1000-1100 and “Building Bridges with books: Bringing foreign literature to Vietnam” at 1100-1200.
