The British Council is the United Kingdom's principal organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations and our purpose is to build mutually beneficial relations between people in the UK and in other countries. We are inviting applications from candidates to work as Teaching Centre Project Coordinator (temporary) Haiphong.
You will provide front line service and administrative support to the British Council English Language Training project at Do Son Beach, Haiphong.
Duties include:
- Communications: Acting as first point of contact for all callers, visitors and enquirers to British Council training project. Communicating with the Do Son facility management, with the project sponsors, with the British Council office in Hanoi, and with teachers and students. Acting as interpreter as necessary, and as contact in case of emergency.
- Administration of training programme: Drafting timetables (together with senior teacher) and making sure everyone knows where they are supposed to be at all times. Creating and maintaining class lists and attendance records, and providing managers with information on student progress as required.
- Drafting and distributing notices to students and teachers.
- Maintaining resources: Ordering, maintaining and distributing supplies of stationery and teaching materials, reporting equipment and facilities faults, and supervising repairs.
- Supporting British Council teachers: Assisting with preparation of student tests and lesson materials. Helping teachers with practical aspects of day to day life, including transport, accommodation, communications, essential shopping)
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong evidence of the following behaviours and experience:
- Excellent communication skills in Vietnamese and English
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including computer proficiency
- Working together: supporting colleagues, agreeing common goals, sharing success
- Being accountable: meeting targets, accepting responsibility, working without direct supervision
- Connecting with others: Keeping everyone up to date and informed, understanding points of view and needs of others, building positive relationships with internal and external contacts
Contract status: 6 months renewable (Start as soon as possible). Gross salary following British Council local Grade J (459 – 543 USD per month, full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday) according to experience and qualifications.
