Scottish band performed at international Festival in Samarkand.

A group of talented musicians from Scotland travelled to Uzbekistan to represent UK at the VII International Music Festival «Sharq taronalari» (“Melodies of Orient”) 25-30 August. (http://sharq-taronalari.skm.uz/eng/index.html)

Based in Edinburgh, the Babylon Arabic Band (www.babylonarabicband.com) tours all over Scotland playing Middle Eastern music, and their first overseas performance took place in the heart of Great Silk Road – Samarkand. The best stages of this ancient city were arranged to host numerous masters of arts from different countries of the world.

Thanking the British Council for support, Mr. N.E.Mohammed, the leader of the band wrote:

“The "Sharq Taronalari" Festival is over and we are back in Scotland after we had the honour to represent Great Britain in this wonderful Festival, I would like to say thank you very much for all your help for inviting me and my band to Uzbekistan as we have been received warmly by the organizers and the Uzbek people.
