Study Abroad
If you’re currently receiving federal Pell Grant funding at a US college or university, you’re eligible to receive up to $5,000 to study abroad with the Gilman Scholarship.
Undergraduate Degrees
Most scholarships for undergraduate degrees come directly from UK universities. Below is a sample of available scholarships; please visit our scholarship database for an extensive, searchable list.
The University offers a number of part scholarships (£2,000 fee waiver) to exceptionally well qualified students from outside the UK/EU. The waivers are available for each year of the undergraduate degree, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

International Merit Awards
The Chancellors Scholarships The Chancellors Scholarship rewards academic, sporting or community/cultural excellence.
International Office Scholarships Non-UK undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible for a £1000 tuition break for the first year of study.
UEA International Scholarships All international students (outside the EU), are eligible for scholarships that amount to 10-50% of the university’s tuition fees.
UEA Faculty of Science Scholarships All academically excellent applicants will be considered for a scholarship of at least £2,000 awarded annually for the duration of the course (4 years).
UEA School of Economics International Undergraduate Scholarships The School of Economics is offering International Student Scholarships worth £500, £1,000 or £2,000 per year for the duration of any undergraduate degree, subject to good academic standing.
Newcastle University considers all International Students for the IUMS scholarship of £1,500 for the first year of study.
All international students are eligible for international merit scholarships ranging from £500-1000. US students with a GPA over 3.0 will receive a £1000 scholarship. The scholarship is available for each year of the undergraduate degree, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
The Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, is pleased to announce the availability of ten new emergent international scholarships for the undergraduate study of applied theatre and theatre practices.
The scholarships enable successful non-EU candidates to undertake a BA (Hons) course in one of the following areas, with their third year fee reduced to £3,317, representing a discount of approximately £13,030 (figures calculated at July 2009).

Graduate Degrees
Each year, the Scottish Government awards 200 master’s degree scholarships to students from the USA, Canada, India, and China based on merit and academic accomplishment. The Saltire Scholarships offers £2,000 toward tuition at any of Scotland’s prestigious universities and is an excellent opportunity for a diverse, international post-graduate experience.
Fifteen fully funded prize PhD studentships plus over 100 other funded PhD places in physics in Scotland. Full applications and references must be submitted by 31 January 2010.
Newcastle University is delighted to announce that there are over 100 Newcastle University International Postgraduate Scholarship (NUIPS) awards.
Each scholarship will have a value of £1,500 per year, payable towards tuition fees in the first instance. In very exceptional circumstances, the value of the NUIPS may be increased to £3,000 per year.
All international students are eligible for international merit scholarships ranging from £500-1000. US students with a GPA over 3.0 will receive a £1000 scholarship.
The International Film School Wales at University of Wales Newport recently has launched two new scholarships of £8,750 to US students to study MA/MFA Film and MA/MFA Animation programmes.
Fulbright Scholarship The largest U.S. international exchange program, the Fulbright offers opportunities for students, scholars, and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.
Gates Cambridge Scholarship Full cost scholarships for students from outside the UK to pursue graduate study and research at Cambridge University.
Marshall Scholarship Founded by a 1953 Act of Parliament, and named in honor of US Secretary of State George C Marshall, the Marshall Scholarships award up to 40 outstanding American college graduates each year a two-year scholarship for a graduate program in any field at the UK institution of their choice.
Mitchell Scholarship Named to honor of U.S. Senator George Mitchell, the Mitchell Scholarship is awarded to twelve students between the ages of 18 and 30 annually for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Rhodes Scholarship The Rhodes Scholarship pays for complete tuition and living expenses for two years of study at Oxford University.
