NAVIGATING THE US VISA PROCESS AND INFORMATION ON TAXATION REQUIREMENTS
for International Performing Artists

Now, more than ever, it is important for UK performing artists to stay abreast of the changes in American immigration policies. Good planning, proper communication with the hosting American presenter, and an understanding of the entire non-immigrant visa process can build bridges rather than barriers for international artists touring the US.

  • Artists from Abroad is an up-to-date and comprehensive website/guide published by Arts Presenters and the American Symphony Orchestra League on Immigration & Tax Requirements for Foreign Artists. This is everything you could ever want (or need) to know about the US visa process. The website provides the forms and web links to assist presenting organizations and to steer them through the process of engaging international artists. An invaluable resource.

  • Although targeted at dance companies and dance presenting organizations, Dance/NYC, a branch of Dance/USA provides a useful guide to INS practices and regulations for any performing artist via its FAQs. Less technical and a good overview of the entire process, it provides a useful introduction on how to acquire the necessary visa prior to touring the US.

We advise all international touring artists to seek professional legal advice well before their planned date of entry into the US.
