The term "live art" frames a diverse array of new performance cultures. Situated outside, within, and in-between the segregated artforms, live art embraces new forms, new ideas, and new media ranging from Forced Entertainment's theater, to Franko B's body installations to Desperate Optimists' web-based projects. This is an exciting and challenging area of UK arts culture, and we’ve found a few avenues for you to explore to find out more.

  • Shooting Live Artists
    A BBC & Arts Council of England TV project that makes new creative connections between live art, popular culture, the Net and convergence technologies. Works by last year's commissioned artists are online.
  • 32,000 Points of Light
    An immersive audio-visual environment exploring impossible but plausible levels of experience, with points of light being the only visual aid. The artists originally conceived the project for performance inside a motion simulator.
  • Digital Performance Archive
    Traces the rapid developments taking place with new combinations of performance activity and new digital technology. Find upcoming events, books and an A-Z of artists and authors involved in digital performance.
