Well, it's official: the UK is once again the top study abroad destination for American
students, according to IIE's 2007 Open Doors Report - so if it's a study abroad program
you're looking for, the campuses of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are an
               excellent place to start.

Northern Ireland has plenty to boast about: not only top-notch universities, but a lively
cultural scene that will ensure your student experience is rich with opportunities to soak
up everything Northern Ireland has to offer.

Whatever your cup of tea, you're sure to find something in Belfast and beyond to satisfy
the adventurer, the dreamer, or the traveler within:

                    1.   Take some artistic license. There's no shortage of engaging ar here - so
whether you're a fan of modern murals or fancy going to a célidh, an evening of
traditional Irish music and dance, you'll always have something to do.
                    2.   These boots were made for walking. Nature lovers, take heed: the stunning
terrain of Northern Ireland awaits exploration, from the Mountains of Mourne to the
rocky shore of the Giant's Causeway.
                    3.   Put your ear to the ground. Ash, the Undertones, and Katie Melua all hail from
Northern Ireland. The country's ever-evolving musical landscape features sounds
that fuse folk with rock and indie and jazz. Let the Non-English Invasion begin.
                    4.   Let the words wash over you. Bookworms and poets will love walking in the
footsteps and wandering the pathways walked by William Butler Yeats, Paul
                          Muldoon, and Seamus Heaney.
                    5.   Have a day at the fair. There's always a reason to celebrate in Northern Ireland.
Enjoy a sampling of Northern Irish creativity at the famous Belfast Festival at
Queen's, or check out the Belfast Film Festival, to name just two.

This annual festival is the toast of the town. Started in the
1960s by a young undergraduate named Michael Emmerson,
the Belfast Festival at Queen's invites the best of
international art to celebrate the best of Belfast theater,
dance, literature, comedy, and music. Over 100,000 visitors
a year visit this festival that continues to delight, amuse,
               and inspire.
