Student e-news - May 2006

Looking for something interesting to do during your summer break?  Why not hop a cheap
flight across the Pond around May 29 and check out the annual Cheese Rolling in
Gloucestershire, where you can watch competitors fling themselves downhill in pursuit of
           giant cheeses.

Sounds like your type of event?  See what happened last year courtesy of the BBC.  Or if
you're interested in a more...traditional holiday, browse our travel pages.

Like you, the British Council will be taking the summer off - but never fear, we'll be back
with more updates and some new features before school starts again in August.  Have a
           great summer!

One of the best things about applying to an undergraduate
program in the UK is how easy it is!  Beginning September 1,
the centralized online application form (UCAS) will be
available to students.  US citizens can submit applications
until June 30, 2007, but we recommend you apply as early as
possible.  Before starting the application process, check out
our practice application designed especially for US students.

Remember, the deadline for applying to Oxford, Cambridge,
medicine, dentistry or veterinary science courses is October
15th.  Both Oxford and Cambridge have separate application
forms that you must complete and submit in addition to the
UCAS application.  This year, Oxford will require students to
have filled out the university's own application by September
            20, 2006.

The summer will be over before you know it - start your
            research now!
