April 2007
Summer has the longest days of the year - so find some ways to fill the space with ideas and events that are a bit out of the box.
Want to stay in school? Consider a change of scenery - the UK is just across the pond, and whether you're an aspiring artist, up-and-coming statesman, or scientist-in-training, take your pick of summer programs at one of the many UK universities which open their doors to high school students. Who says summer school is no fun?
If you're already in the UK, why not stick around? From May 1st, international students who graduate from UK universities will have the option to stay on and transition their academic know-how into career experience abroad. Learn more about the International Graduate Scheme, and get a job after you get your degree.
You can start your summer now with some stateside attractions sure to please. Give the planet her due on Earth Day with a look at the climate change photos in our NorthSouthEastWest exhibit, listen to the transatlantic game of "Telephone" with The Black Atlantic Project, or learn more about Bernardine Evaristo, one of our UK Writers-in-Residence. And don't forget to say happy birthday to Jamestown, which celebrates its 400th anniversary this year.
Start thinking ahead to summer - those dog days will be here before you know it!
