Register for an exam at 08:00 by providing both forms of identity
Switch off your mobile telephone and leave it with your belongings in the designated area. If you take your mobile phone with you into the examination room you will be disqualified. Take only two forms of identity with you into the examination room
Go to the examination room and sit at a seat assigned to you
Check your table labels for your name and correct module
Place your forms of identity to one side of your table
Follow the instructions given by the invigilator(s) during the examinations
Be aware that there is no break between the written parts of the exam.
Listening
Follow the exam assistant’s instructions to fill in your personal information on the answer sheets
Listen carefully because you will hear the texts on CD only once
Try to answer all the questions; don’t panic if you miss any information but continue listening to the end
Mark your answers in your questions booklets while you listen
Read instructions carefully before choosing the answer (a letter, a number, a sign, or a word/words)
Transfer answers from your question booklets to your answer sheets during a 10-minute pause at the end of the Listening part
Fill in the Listening side of your answer sheet in pencil. The answer sheet is scanned by a computer which cannot read pen
Stop writing after the speaker’s words ‘This is the end of the test’.
Reading
Reading for Academic and General modules is different
Read instructions carefully before choosing the answer (a letter, a number, a sign, or a word/words)
Use the Reading side of the answer sheet to write your answers in pencil
You will have only 60 minutes and no additional time to transfer your answers from question booklets to your answer sheets
You may transfer your answers section by section during the Reading test or all at once at the very end of the Reading test within 60 minutes
Our assistants will give you time checks 40, 20, 10 and 5 minutes before the end of the test.
Writing
Writing for Academic and General modules is different
You should do two tasks within an hour. The first task is shorter (about 20 minutes) and the second task is longer (about 40 minutes)
You should write exactly what is required in the instructions
Each task should include no fewer words than required in the instructions
You may use writing tasks cards as rough paper
You can write in pen or pencil
Our assistants will give time check 40, 20, 10 and 5 minutes before the end of the test
After the Writing is finished, you should check your desk labels for the date, time and location of your Speaking test
Take your desk label with you as you will need it to check your results online.
Speaking
Come at least 20 minutes before your interview time and wait in the waiting area until your are invited to the room by an assistant or examiner
Bring your forms of identity to the interview
Switch off your mobile telephone and leave it with our assistant
Avoid discussing the interview with those who have taken it or are waiting for it
Be aware that your interview will be recorded for review
Speaking consists of 3 parts: introduction (4–5 minutes), individual long turn (3–4 minutes) and two-way discussion (4–5 minutes)
During the introduction candidates are interviewed on familiar topics
During the individual long turn candidates are given a task card and 1 minute to make notes and get prepared
During the two-way discussion the task card is withdrawn but the discussion is related to the previous task.
