What is IELTS?
International English Language Testing System

IELTS is the world’s leading English language test. Over 1.2 million candidates take the test each year to start their journeys into international education and employment.

IELTS exam is suitable for you if you are:

going to enter an English-speaking school, college or university
intending to emigrate to United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or other English-speaking countries
planning to attend training courses in an English-speaking environment
interested in enhancing your overall language skills.

IELTS is required for admission to educational institutions worldwide, and is also an essential part of the immigration process in a number of countries. Whether you want to study, work or live in the UK or overseas, take the IELTS test with us.

Follow the links to your left for detailed information about IELTS.

Choose your module

IELTS has two versions. The test taker’s performance is assessed on a band between 1 (non-user) to 9 (expert user).

Academic Module is recommended for those who want to study at a university abroad. Almost all universities in the UK, the USA and other countries require from their international students to have IELTS Academic Module certificate.
General Module is designed for those who want to complete their secondary education in an English-speaking country, for participants of work experience / training programmes, and those who need it for immigration purposes.

All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking tests but different Reading and Writing tests.

Many other organisations around the world use IELTS scores for a range of purposes, including immigration, recruitment, professional registration and entry to training courses.

With such wide global recognition, an IELTS score will take you further than most tests. You can look for a recognising institution by using the IELTS Global Recognition System, an interactive tool designed to help you find universities, professional organisations, employers and government agencies around the world that accept IELTS.
