Cambridge Exams procedures

Registration Procedures

Individual Entries

To enrol in Cambridge examinations, candidates will need to:

  • apply for a Cambridge examination via the British Council before the deadline (please see Dates page)
  • check the fixed date of the written exam and make sure that they are free on this day and a week before or after that date (for Listening and Speaking)
  • fill in an entry form and sign a disclaimer
  • pay a fee in cash to the BC finance unit during the registration

* Please note that it may be possible to take an examination in another location. Current examination locations are:

  • Odessa
  • Kharkiv
  • Donetsk
  • Lviv
  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Sevastopol

School Entries

A school may enter its candidates in a list in English which includes: name, surname, day, month and year of birth and contact telephone number/postal address (if different from the school one)  

Multiple Entries

A candidate may enter two exams at different levels paying a separate fee for each of them  

Late Entries

If a candidate makes a late entry, he/she should pay a late entry fee to the BC finance unit

Special Needs

If a candidate has special needs, he or she should apply for special exams arrangements providing a medical statement signed by a medical practitioner

Transfer

Session transfer

  • After registration is closed, a candidate cannot be transferred from one examination session to a future one or to a different level.
  • Candidates may be transferred from FCE (Tuesday) to FCE (Saturday) session or vice versa within the same session.

Centre transfer

  • After registration is closed, a candidate may be transferred from one examination centre to another.
  • Candidates who transfer to another examination centre may need to pay two local fees (at the discretion of the centres).

Refund

  • After registration is closed, a candidate who withdraws from an exam will not receive a fee refund.
  • If a candidate withdraws his/her entry for serious medical reasons, the centre may request Cambridge ESOL to refund the central fee provided there is a statement signed by a medical practitioner.
  • All requests for refunds must be received before the issue of results.

Post-Registration Procedures

Cambridge ESOL provides each candidate via the examination centre with:

  • a statement of entry which includes the registration number of a candidate and the exams timetable via the examination centre
  • a Notice to Candidates which summarises the exams regulations all candidates are subject to during the examinations

After receiving these documents, candidates should:

  • check if their name or surname is spelt correctly in their statement of entry and inform the examination centre about any mistake in order to amend the (sur)name.
  • remember their number under which they have been registered for the examination
  • note that the written and spoken parts of the examination may not take place on the same day or at the same location
  • familiarise themselves with the examinations regulations

The examination centre provides each candidate/school with:

a letter which includes details of the examination venue, timetable and examination day requirements.

Examination Procedures

On each day of the examination candidates will be asked to:

  • bring his/her statement of entry and form of identity
  • register for the examination
  • leave all their belongings (except for their form of identity, statement of entry and stationery) in the designated area
  • go to the examination room and sit at a seat assigned to them
  • follow the regulations given in the Notice to Candidates and instructions given by the invigilator(s) during the examinations

Post-Examination Procedures

Examination Results

  • Statements of results are issued to all candidates 6-8 weeks after an examination via the examination centre.
  • The centre may make an enquiry about the results within a month after their issue on behalf of a candidate or school.
  • Certificates are issued about 5-6 weeks after result slips to successful candidates via the centre.

The centre sends the certificates by:

  • registered mail
  • special delivery
  • or presents them personally to the candidates

Application for Certified Statements of Results

  • A candidate who has lost a certificate may apply via the centre for a certified statement of results for a fee.
  • A candidate may apply at any time via the centre for a certified statement of results. There is a charge for the service.
