About Akili Service
The Akili service is an innovative information delivery service that has replaced the traditional library service run by the British Council in Uganda. In partnership with a courier company fee paying members will be able to borrow information materials by ordering them online for delivery by the courier company. Return of materials will also be done by request pickup online.

What are the benefits of this service? 
Information materials delivered to your office doorstep within 24 hours
Saves time and costs visiting a physical library facility to borrow and return materials
Eliminates all parking related issues at current British Council premises
As a customer, you are able to manage your personal accounts, request extensions of materials online without having to call British Council

What materials are available through the Akili service?
Management and leadership books including a variety of titles such as: General Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Project Management, Small business development, Strategic and business planning, Management skills development, Sales and marketing, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) course books, Chartered Institute of  Marketing (CIM) core texts and course books

Management and leadership training videos and DVDs
These DVDs and videos cover the latest techniques in a variety of areas including: Business Ethics, Sales and marketing, Communication, Motivation, Project Management, Performance Management, Leadership development, Managing Customer relationships, Time Management, Team working and many others

UK Contemporary DVD collection
Customers can also access over 1,000 DVDs in our home entertainment collection at no extra fee. The following categories are provided for this collection: Animation, Action / Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Family, Romance, Thriller, Literature and studio classics

Back issues of UK leisure magazines and journals
We subscribe to leading journals such as Customer Management, The Economist, Management Today, Harvard Business Review and African Business

Leisure magazines including Hello, OK, Homes and Gardens, BBC Good Food, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan

How do I become a member?
Download and complete the application form. Please ensure you give details of your full name, place of work, office (institution) physical address and other such particulars deemed necessary for secure and effective operation of the Akili service.  Please submit this form plus two passport size photos, a copy of your valid identity card and the appropriate fee to our office on Ground Floor, Rwenzori Courts Building. Once in receipt of these items, a library membership card and a password will be issued to you.

Individual membership Ugshs. 150,000/=
Corporate membership (5 people) Ugshs. 400,000/=
Corporate membership (10 people) Ugshs. 700,000/=

What are my entitlements?
1.You can borrow as follows: NEW!!!

You can opt for a total of six items from the books, entertainment
or periodicals (journals and magazines) collections:

Books and periodicals                                                            Two weeks
Two Management Training videos or DVDs                        Five days
Entertainment videos or DVDs                                               Five days

Note that the maximum number of items you can borrow at any time is six items
2. All items borrowed are delivered free of charge to a known office physical address by  an appointed courier service provider
3. All items due for return are picked up free of charge from a known office physical address by an appointed courier service provider
4. In case your items are due for return before you have completed using them, request for an extension by using the Online contact us page.
5. You can reserve items that are out on loan
6.You will be granted access to our electronic resources
