Rivers of the World

Rivers of the World is a Thames Festival Trust project delivered in partnership with the British Council. The project aims to link 30,000 young people around the world each year through a focus on a common theme: the river, as well as, promotes a greater understanding and appreciation of nature and rivers across the participating countries.

The project was launched in the UAE in October 2011 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Dubai Education Zone. Six government schools participate in this project including: Al Khansa School for Girls, Umm Suqeim School for Girls, Omar bin Al Khattab Model School for Boys, Al Saeedeya School for Boys, Al Ebdaa Model School for Girls, and Nad Al Hammar School for Girls.

Rivers of the World exhibition in the UAE

The exhibition that has been created by school students from nine countries in the world, including the UAE, is a celebration of Dubai Creek and other great rivers of the world.

HSBC Bank Middle East and Dubai Airports are working hand in hand with the British Council to bring this exhibition to UAE.

This year, 46 artworks prepared collaboratively by students and artists from UAE, UK, Argentina, Pakistan, Korea, Egypt, Turkey, Bangladesh and Indonesia, were selected for the exhibition.

Students from the UAE worked with local artists, Khalid Mezaina and Layan Attari, to produce their artworks.
