REGIONAL CONGRESS

Living Together Congress, Krakow, Poland, 4-6 March 2009

The Living Together project has been working since 2007 to empower people across more than 20 countries in the region to debate and take action to improve the social cohesion of the places where they live and work. The project has focused strongly on helping young people who want to make a difference to acquire skills, make like-minded friends and take direct action.

We are now organizing this Youth Congress in Poland and forming a network of young activists. This network will consist of 60 people aged between 20 and 30 from across South East Europe and the UK.

There are 7 young delegates from Turkey who have either participated in a Living Together project, or have a strong track record of action in promoting social cohesion, or both, are attending in the Youth Congress in Poland.

The Congress will involve

• Preparatory work on-line from December to get to know other participants.

• Skills workshops, from fundraising and high level advocacy to Web activism and grassroots campaigning.

• Team work to share ideas and develop projects.

• Debate and discussion with policy makers, civil society leaders and journalists.

• Opportunities to showcase and celebrate achievements.
