In line with the overall purpose of the British Council, we, as the governance and society team in Turkey, work towards establishing long-term cultural relations between people in the UK and in Turkey.

More specifically, our work in the area of governance and society has the following objectives:

•Supporting the strengthening of understanding and building of trust between people in the UK and Turkey, and contributing to
positive social change

•Creating opportunities for open and informed debate about Turkey’s EU accession process

•Supporting Turkey’s alignment with EU norms through capacity building projects

•Supporting the process of enabling young people to contribute to positive social change in Turkey

We work towards achieving our objectives through the design and implementation of various projects in which we work in
partnerships with both government institutions and civil society organisations
Partnerships are crucial for us and we would like to operate on that basis in the future as well.
